Accessibility Project brief now live
Given that the only idea that won both the public and the judges’ vote of the Edinburgh Festivals Ideas Challenge was related to accessibility, we’re delighted to announce that Festivals Edinburgh has just published a tender for a delivery partner to build a user-centred digital service targeted at attendees of the Edinburgh Festivals with accessibility needs.
Full details and the tender brief is available at www.edinburghfestivals.co.uk/jobs
The project has not been fully specified down to the final detail since we want to work together with the delivery partner and a relevant group of users to create the solution that best matches the expertise of the delivery partner and can generate the target outcomes.
Responses for this piece of work have to be in by April 27th so please get in touch if you would like to be considered for this project. The fee is up to £9k and the project is generously supported by the Open Innovation Project and Interreg.
Developer wanted for major festivals API project
festivalslab is recruiting a back-end developer to lead on the development of the Edinburgh Festivals’ first ever summer listings API initiative. The opportunity comprises three main roles:
- 1. Development of the endpoint itself
- 2. Testing of a limited number of applications against a small number of testing conditions
- 3. Management of the live endpoint
The total budget for this piece of work is £8,000 (+ VAT) and will suit a freelance developer or small company with immediate availability.
This is a unique opportunity to play a part in high-profile project and we welcome your interest. An outline spec for the endpoint itself is available here.
Please email geek@festivalsedinburgh.com to register your interest.
Festivals Edinburgh recruiting Head of Marketing & Innovation
As you may know, all of the work here at festivalslab is part of Festivals Edinburgh, the strategic body that works for and with the twelve Edinburgh Festivals.
The secret hero behind much of our work is Martin Reynolds who is the outgoing Head of Marketing for Festivals Edinburgh – Martin has done so much to support and drive the innovation work at the festivals and we owe him a great debt of gratitude as when he moves onto the next exciting chapter of his career later this spring.
So as we wish Martin all the best, what this also means is that Festivals Edinburgh is now recruiting for its role of Head of Marketing & Innovation – by far one of the most exciting roles in arts management in Scotland if not the UK.
Salary is £40-45k and applications close fairly soon on April 18th. To find out more, visit http://www.edinburghfestivals.co.uk/jobs for the full details.
Good luck!
Do you want to be our first geek-in-residence?
As mentioned last week, we are now looking for a so-called geek-in-residence to play an important part in the first year of the Lab and the application process for this role is now live.
Full details are available here and online applications will be accepted until Monday August 16th.

Geek-in-Residence: register your interest
The Geek-in-Residence is a playful term for an exciting new role as part of the Lab. The geek will work with the festivals to identify innovation opportunities, build networks and develop projects. It will be a part-time fixed-term contract and will suit a highly-networked individual with extensive and broad digital expertise and an interest in the creative industries and festivals in particular.
You can find more details here and register your interest by emailing geek@festivalsedinburgh.com – and the full details/job description/application process will be live very soon
